| The
purpose of performing maintenance inspections is to
find potential problems, and ensure
peak
efficiency which increases the life of your system
& saves you money in the long run
Does an inspection guarantee you will have no problems?
Most future problems do give some indication that
an inspection will find, but there are those that give no
indication at all before a failure occurs. Rest assured, we
do our best and use the latest methods when inspecting your system
but if a problem
occurs within 6 months after we do your inspection, Trustworthy
will credit the cost back when
we
repair the problem.
Two
of the most critical areas that have the largest impact on comfort
and efficiency...
Refrigerant charge is very important to thoroughly check.
According to APS testing, on average, by having the
correct refrigerant charge
and airflow through the indoor coil, customers can save as much as 31% on their
annual energy bill. Do you think this would also improve the comfort level
in your home? You bet. Field studies have shown that 60% to
80% of units tested
do not have the proper refrigerant charge and It's common to find systems undercharged
by 10% to 30%. You may think you have a 12 SEER efficiency rating on your system,
but if it's undercharged by 20%, it's really delivering only 9.4 SEER. You
might think if it's undercharged by 20% you'll feel the difference.
That's just not
the truth. You can go for years and not know your low on refrigerant unless
you have your system serviced by a qualified technician. To
properly check refrigerant
levels you must use the superheat/sub cooling method. Make sure that your trusted
service technician uses this method.
Did
you know that 15% duct leakage can cause as much as a 50% decrease
in efficiency? And that's assuming your attic is only 120 degrees.
Do you think attics get above 120 degrees here in Phoenix? Just
a little!! That leakage is just sucking hot air into your cooling
system. APS power says that by restricting duct leakage to 3%
of airflow that customers could save an average of 14% and up
to 34% on their utility bills.
